Incorporating Corpora into Language Teaching
Data-Driven Learning (DDL), or teaching and learning languages with the help of corpora (large electronic collections of texts), has been shown to be effective and efficient in instructed second language acquisition. Nevertheless, it is still far from becoming a common pedagogical practice. In my presentation, I will discuss how corpora can be used as Open Educational Resources (OER) and exemplify it with a case of implementing DDL in German language courses at the University of Kansas.
