Beware the AI-des of March!
MAALLT held our Tech Slam 5! , “Beware the AI-des of March!” on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 7:00-8:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time. A tech slam is like a poetry slam, but with 5-minute micro-presentations on tech, apps, or practices for language learning. If you have ideas of the topic for our future Tech Slams, feel free to contact us.
To give people a little breather from AI, this Tech Slam was focusing on tech tools and practices that were *not* related to AI. Presenters introduced their tool or practice and explained its benefits to learners. For this Tech Slam, our presenters focused on non-AI uses.

MAALLT was excited to hold its Tech Slam 2! on December 6, 2022. Thank you to all who presented and attended! A “tech slam” is like a poetry slam, but with each presenter speaking about a technology, app, solution, or technology-supported practice for language learning for 5 minutes.

Here are a selection of previous events MAALLT and its members have participated in
- MAALLT gave a joint session with IALLT & SEALLT on April 2 at SCOLT 2022. Among other things, we discussed ideas for language learning technology and growing our organizations.
- MAALLT President-Elect Jeffrey Samuels contributed several interviews and articles to IALLT’s free online language technology magazine, FLTMAG, in 2021.
- MAALLT board member Errol M. O’Neill contributed a successful IALLT webinar in 2021 (live webinars are available via IALLT and free to all educators).
- MAALLT board members Amanda Romjue and Hope Fitzgerald presented sessions during the FLAVA fall 2020 conference.
- As a small organization, our priorities remain to deepen connections with partner organizations and grow an engaged membership. We have re-engaged our social media presence to increase awareness of MAALLT.
