Title: Increasing World Language Proficiency Across the Communicative Modes with Extempore
Description: Aurora Public Schools (APS) is transitioning to teaching practices centered on ACTFL’s Guiding Principles for Language Learning. To increase the time students spend interacting in the target language, APS has adopted the Extempore platform, which facilitates the design, implementation, and assessment of interpersonal activities that are often challenging to manage in a classroom setting. This presentation will review the district-wide implementation process, demonstrate the platform’s features, share examples of teacher-developed activities and assessments, and present data and feedback on its effectiveness in increasing students’ interpersonal communication abilities.
