Title: A Systematic Review of Mobile Language Learning Apps for Visually Impaired Users: Affordances and Limitations

Description: This webinar explores findings from a systematic literature review on mobile applications designed to support language learning for visually impaired individuals. The study critically examined 17 research articles selected from an initial pool of 274 papers, sourced through databases such as Scopus, IEEE, ERIC, and ScienceDirect, following the PRISMA methodology. The review highlights key affordances and limitations in app design, with a focus on how language skills are addressed for this user group. Findings show a growing trend in inclusive design, where speaking and listening are prioritized due to lower technical barriers, while reading, writing, and spelling remain more challenging. The review also uncovers a shift away from grammar-heavy instruction toward communicative approaches. Finally, the webinar offers actionable insights for developers and educators, emphasizing the importance of technological, pedagogical, and psychological dimensions in creating accessible, effective language learning tools for both sighted and visually impaired users.
