FREE WEBINAR FOR December 15, 2025
Title: Disability Inclusion for Language Teaching
Description: The first webinar in the 2026 series serves to contextualize a major theme of the series: disability and language teaching. Caitlin Cornell (Ph.D., Michigan State University) will introduce the topic by briefly introducing how accessibility and disability inclusion manifest in U.S. educational contexts. Then, Dr. Cornell will discuss the elements of additional language learning that can create hurdles for many disabled students, and explore how inclusive pedagogical practices can mitigate disproportionate challenge for disabled students in language study. Additionally, Dr. Cornell will share advice about working with disabled students, choosing appropriate terms to reference disabled students and their learning, navigating policies equitably, and finding accessibility support at your institution and beyond.
